It takes materials, labor at your loaded cost, subcontractors and equipment hire, applies your overhead to the direct cost and your profit on top of that, adds the contingency you carry for the unknowns, adds sales tax where your state charges it on materials, and gives the quote total and the deposit to collect at signing. Every percentage is yours; the page only does the arithmetic in the right order.

Overhead on cost, profit on cost plus overhead

The order matters. Overhead recovers the office, the trucks and the insurance and it is a cost, so it goes on the direct cost first. Profit is what you keep and it goes on everything, including the overhead, because the overhead is money you spent. A quote that adds a single percentage for both is usually light by the difference, on every job.

Contingency is priced, not hidden

The unknowns on a construction job are real: ground conditions, the wall that turns out to be structural, the delivery that arrives wrong. Carrying a named contingency on the direct cost puts a number on them, and a quote that says so is stronger than one that pads every line and hopes.

The deposit covers what you order before day one

Materials ordered before the job starts are your cash until the client pays, and the deposit is what makes that the client's cash. Set it as a percentage that covers the early orders, state it as a figure on the quote, and collect it before ordering. The page computes it so the client sees it before they sign.
