Every figure on this page is computed from the inputs you enter, by the method stated below it. The only constants DailyLogDesk supplies are the published reporting clocks and assessment steps, each cited where it is used. The defaults are a worked example to replace with your own.
A RAMS risk assessment template is the assessment half of the pack a main contractor asks for before you start on their site: the hazards found on the walk, scored before and after the controls, with the controls written so the method statement half can apply them step by step. The risk assessment and method statement tool on this site builds both halves from one set of inputs, sizes the pack and prices the briefing, free and without an account; DailyLogDesk Pro keeps the RAMS against the project with the revision history and the sign-on sheet.

The assessment rows: the walk, scored
Numbered rows for the hazards actually found on the site, who is harmed and how, the likelihood and severity before any control, the control, the score after it, and the person responsible. The template scores out of 25 and prints the reduction. The rows are not a library list; a library row for a hazard the site does not have is what marks a RAMS as generic.
The method rows: the controls as steps
The sequence of the work from arrival to leaving, with each control from the assessment written into the step where it is applied. The reader of a RAMS is the person on the site at that step, and a control listed on a separate page is a control they will not have in front of them.
The header, the people and the emergency block
The job, the client, the site, the date and the revision; the crew and their competence; the plant and its inspection; the permits; the first aider, the hospital and the rescue where one is needed. The template carries these as their own block so the pack is complete when it is sized.
Briefed, signed, revised and filed
The pack is briefed before the task, the crew sign, and the pack is revised when the site or the method changes with the revision briefed again. Pro keeps every revision and every sign-on sheet against the project and exports the pack when the principal contractor asks.

RAMS risk assessment template: common questions
Is the RAMS template free?
Yes. The tool on this site builds and sizes the pack with no account and no card. Pro keeps the RAMS against the project and raises the review.
What does a principal contractor check in a RAMS?
That the hazards are this site's, that the controls are in the method's steps, that the people and plant are named, and that the emergency arrangements are real. A generic pack fails on the first.
How often is a RAMS revised?
Whenever the site, the sequence or the people change, and at the review date regardless. Each revision is briefed and signed.
