The RAMS method statement: the steps of the work with every control from the assessment attached at the step where it applies

A RAMS method statement is the half of the RAMS the crew follows, and it is built from the other half. Each control the assessment found is placed at a numbered step: the exclusion zone at step one, the isolation proved at step three, the edge protection at step four. Around the steps sit the plant with its inspections, the permits, the PPE per step, the emergency and rescue arrangements, and the sign-on sheet. The risk assessment and method statement tool on this site builds it from the assessment, free and without an account.

Setting up, doing, making safe

The steps that put the controls in place; the work with each control named where it applies; the reverse, with the exclusion zone down last. One action per step, the role named. The HSE's guidance, cited below, gives risk assessment as five steps: identify hazards, assess the risks, control the risks, record your findings, review the controls, and says that if you employ 5 or more people you must record your significant findings.

Referenced by hazard number

Step four, erect edge protection, controls hazard one. A reviewer runs down the method and finds every hazard's number, or finds the control the assessment found and the method forgot. The tool on this site carries the numbers through automatically so the cross-reference cannot drift.

Around the steps

Plant with inspection status, permits, PPE where it changes, the emergency arrangements with the rescue plan for height on the HSE's work at height law page, cited below. Under CDM, cited below, the site manager checks these against the plan.

The sign-on

The crew's signatures on the version briefed, with the date. DailyLogDesk Pro keeps the signed statement against the job with its assessment; the tool prints it. From the vendors' own pricing pages, cited below: SafetyCulture lists its Premium plan at $29 per seat per month billed monthly or $24 billed annually, with a free plan for small teams; Contractor Foreman lists its Basic plan at $49 per month for one user. DailyLogDesk Pro is $29 per month for the whole site team.
